The Council on Aging will hold our annual fundraiser, the Fall Craft Market, on Sept 26, 2026. Call COA at 828-328-2269 if you are interested in being a craft vendor at the event.

Beginning January 12, 2026, until all appointments are filled, appointments can be made by phone for free tax preparation at three locations in Catawba County. Call 828-358-4669 to make an appointment.

From Jan 1 to March 31, if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, there are certain changes you can make. Please contact a SHIIP counselor at the Council on Aging, 828-328-2269, for more information and to make an appointment.

The West Hickory Senior Center will be closed November 27 and 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday, December 22 through December 26 for the Christmas holiday, and December 31 at noon through January 2 for the New Year's holiday.

The Council on Aging will host a free drive-thru shred event on November 6 from 9 am to noon at the West Hickory Senior Center.
